I really like working with colors and shapes. Contrast of dark and light. Details versus softness.
I think that is what I find when I see a photo of an inanimate object that I really like. There is a quality of contrast about it. There is an interplay of two things that don’t quite go together.
In these images there is detail. But there is also contrasting softness. You can see the bright light but there is also darkness.
There is a clear and obvious subject of the image, but there is also this ethereal quality of something else drawing your eye. Something that maybe draws your eye more so than what the subject actually is.
Is the subject the object. Or is the subject light itself.
I don’t create photography quite like this very often, so I can’t really pinpoint how I feel about it or what draws me to it or why I make it.
I am usually out in nature where images quite like these are harder to come by.
What do you see? How does it make you feel?
