One photo a day challenge: Day 355. It has been below freezing most nights lately. However, most daily high temperatures have been above freezing and even into the 40’s. I was wondering if the cold temperatures have been enough to freeze water over night and have it remain until mid day the next morning. I figured if ice formations were remaining until mid day at least then that would give me a… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 354. For a while we were having a good stretch of beautiful sunset skies. It has not been the case in recent weeks. I can’t remember the last time I had the opportunity to photograph a nice sunset. It doesn’t help that half the time I am not home from work yet as the sun is setting. But I have really been wanting to photograph a… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 353. Every year our family gets together and bakes and decorates Christmas cookies. I always like to capture some of these times on camera. This year I wanted to see if I could capture a view of a bunch of the cookies we decorated. For this project I was going to use my Sony Alpha 6000 with the 20mm lens. This view of a bunch of… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 352. I decided to try and take advantage of the rain today. The goal was to actually capture elements of the rain in a photo. I had the idea to photograph the puddles in our driveway. Photograph them in a way that would show the rain drops hitting the water of the puddle. The rain tried not to cooperate. As the raindrops became a fine mist…. Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 351. Switching things up a bit. Playing around with food. Fruit. The two fruits I eat the most. Apples and bananas. Used two different background materials for nice clean non-distracting visuals. Illuminated the phot with two Lume Cube Panel Mini lights. Never realized there was so much texture in the skin of a banana. Not sure that will make me want to eat them more or… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 356. Today I headed over to a local park to photograph some trees. I photographed these trees earlier in the year. It seemed like a nice time to photograph them and see if I could find a different perspective on todays visit. It was an unseasonably warm day for this time of year. 60+ degrees in December. I am not sure if that helped or hurt… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 349. Today I returned to a specific subject matter that I photographed way back when I started this project over 300 days ago. I wanted to try to be a little more creative with the items I was photographing. Intersperse some of the items with other items. And now I had a few new tools to incorporate into this type of photography. So that added a… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 348. Had fun experimenting with some night photography. Tonight I worked with some of the newly added Christmas Lights outside out house. I used an f/16 aperture to create the starburst effect of the Christmas Lights. In the background you can see the just barely illuminated trees from the lights I placed out by the trees. And off in the distance the Christmas lights from out… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 347. Today I thought I would check in on some of the indoor plants I have growing in the basement. I have a little container garden going trying to keep the plants alive until next spring. Today I wanted to focus on the succulents that I have growing down in the basement. I like the look of the multiple stalks with the bulbous protrusions of this… Read More

One photo a day challenge: Day 343. Recently I went for a hike. And I went out for a very specific reason. I wanted to scout out an area I wanted to photograph. The reason I was doing this was so I would know how long a hike it would be to get there when I went with heavier equipment. Well, that day I did not find the location I was looking… Read More
